Serena has lost just six of the 54 matches she has played at the Australian Open throughout her career.
The world number one, 1/4 to progress to the semi-finals on Wednesday and the 5/4 favourite to successfully defend her Australian Open title (giving her a fifth singles title here), has played some superb tennis over the past ten days or so and is yet to drop a set.
Furthermore, she has dropped just 15 games in the tournament to date.
Victoria Azarenka, 3/1 to cause an upset and beat Serena to set up a semi-final against either Na Li or Serena's older sister, Venus, has lost three of her four previous meetings against the defending champion.
But Azarenka, who has dropped just one set herself in the tournament so far, has plenty of motivation to defeat Serena on Wednesday, having had her previous two Australian Open campaigns ended by the American.
In 2008, Serena beat her in straight sets in the third round, but last year the Belarussian was one set up in their fourth round meeting before retiring due to illness when trailing 4-2 in the second set.
But the 20-year-old insists those defeats are not going to motivate her going into this year's clash.
"I'm not going to make up for anything," said Azarenka. "Last year happened and I forgot about it already. I just moved on.
"This is a new year and new challenge for me and I'm just going to go out there and try my best."
Despite making relatively light work of number 9 seed Vera Zvonareva in the last round, there's no doubt that Azarenka has her work cut out for her.
If there are any weaknesses in Williams' game right now, it is potentially niggling injuries she is carrying. Serena has had her right thigh strapped throughout the tournament, as well as her left knee, but insists that the injuries are no cause for concern.
"When I step on the court I feel great, even though sometimes before I am struggling," she said following Monday's quarter-final win.
We'll certainly take her word for it and the 1/4 on Williams winning should be a safe bet. But expect Azarenka to make it a closer match than some may be expecting. Williams is 5/2 to win in three sets, and that may prove to be a winning bet also.
